Hamlet (N.C.) Richmond County four-star linebacker and South Carolina signee Melvin Ingram has been putting in overtime in the class room as a senior in an effort to qualify academically. His long road is coming to an end, and he will soon know whether his efforts have paid off.
"I get my final grades next week," the 6-foot-2.5, 255-pound Ingram said. "I think I did very good. I think I did excellent, really. I've been working harder than ever, and I'm really hoping I'm going to make it."
Ingram, who was one of the most impressive players on either team the week of the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas, also has one shot on the standardized test remaining.
