Irish catch Gray's attention

When it comes to pulling top prospects out of the Lonestar State, the University of Texas often stops Notre Dame's advances before they cross the border. But in the case of running back Cyrus Gray, being different from one of college football's best in-state recruiting programs might work to Notre Dame's benefit.

With the Longhorns holding three running back commitments in their next class and Texas not making an offer to Gray, the 6-foot, 188-pound athlete has had time to look around at his options. Notre Dame's interest, which included a school visit from Charlie Weis this spring, has caught Gray's eye.

But there's more to Gray's interest in the Irish than the recent attention.
