Day 1 shows some in-state surprises

TULSA, Okla. - It's one thing to sit around and work the phones, it's another thing entirely to hit the road and see what type of talent the Sooner State has to show off. On the first stop of the day it's clear that while many names are known around the state, one player that isn't getting his deserved credit is Okmulgee star Herbert Byrd.

Byrd, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound pass-rusher reportedly already has an offer from Ron Prince's Wildcats and is now simply working hard to prepare for the arrival of a new head coach.

Other interested schools include Kansas State, Texas Tech and Tulsa.
