Kingwood evaluations: Duke prospects

Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer had a courtside seat at several of the best games over the weekend at Houston's Kingwood Classic, which included several of the top prospects in both the 2008 and 2009 classes.

Duke had a keen interest in this event as well, as several key potential Blue Devil targets put their games on display.

Meyer spoke with Devils Illustrated to break down the prospects at Kingwood who have caught Duke's eye.

Greg Monroe
Class of 2008
6-10, 226
Harvey (La.) Helen Cox
AAU Team: Louisiana Select

Meyer's thoughts on Monroe's Kingwood performance:

"He looked good. I think if you're going to criticize him, I think you would say sometimes he is unselfish to a fault. I would love to see him get a little more aggressive as a scorer. Greg is a fantastic prospect and is the number one guy [in his class]. He has all the tools, but I think the one area he can take his game to an even higher level is to really develop some go to moves and be dominant in the post. He has that in him. I caught him two or three times [at Kingwood]. The last game I saw he was making some really nice post moves coming back to his right hand and finishing with his right hand, which was great. There's times where you just want to say, 'Greg, just dunk it on him.' But he played well and did a great job. He didn't do anything to hurt himself by any means."
