Words from a possible pro (pt 1)
April 18, 2007 - Those that follow, love, and even hate Georgetown Basketball have been awash in speculation regarding whether juniors Roy Hibbert and/or Jeff Green will in fact leave school for the pro game.
Having declared for the draft, and not signed with an agent, both could either return to G'Town for their senior seasons or ply their craft in the National Basketball Association next season.
Below are the direct quotes of Hibbert during yesterday's press conference held by he and Green at McDonough Arena.
Hibbert on the impact he and Green's his return and the team's subsequent high preseason ranking, on his decision making process: "That's nice obviously. It depends on what Jeff wants to do, and what my family needs are, and what coach thinks is best for me. I'm just going to weigh my options right now."
Does skill development factor into his personal decision to go pro? "Yes, obviously I wouldn't want to be on the end of a bench on a NBA team and not being able to develop and show what I could do. So another year hear would be great, but I'm just going to see if Coach (John Thompson, III) thinks I'm ready."
"Obviously I would love to come back and get a banner in here, a championship banner; we were close this year."
Does Green's possible departure - and the impact his teammate would have on a title run next year - impact his decision? "Obviously it (Green staying) would be a different situation. But we have great players that are working extremely hard: We have Vernon Macklin working extremely hard to get better. Our freshmen, who are going to be sophomores, are working extremely hard.
"That's going to factor into my decision as well. We have great players that are improving. DaJuan Summers is working on his shot, even though he can't really play right now. That's going to play into my decision."
