Lindsey set for surgery; Garcia reinstated

Linebacker Dustin Lindsey, whose twin brother Jordin was South Carolina's Defensive MVP in the Liberty Bowl, sustained a torn ACL in Saturday's Garnet and Black Game and will be out until late September or early October, USC head coach Steve Spurrier confirmed Monday night.

The injury is a setback to Lindsey's hopes of returning to action after missing the entire 2006 season for academic reasons. Lindsey last played for USC in the 2005 Independence Bowl, and was third on the team in tackles that season, Spurrier's first as head coach.

"He's going to need surgery," Spurrier said prior to Monday's meeting of the Lexington County Gamecock Club at Seawell's in Columbia. "Hopefully, he'll come back strong."
