Q&A with Wallace Gilberry

Defensive end Wallace Gilberry enters his senior season with the Crimson Tide with plenty of questions surrounding him. Gilberry spoke with the media following Tuesday's practice and answered some of those questions.

Q: How intense was the off-season program?

GILBERRY: It was definitely a different off-season program than what we're used to. We worked hard and definitely got better. I've trimmed down a lot. I went from 280 starting the Fourth Quarter program and now I'm 265. It wasn't planned, it just ran off me. I stayed and it left.

Q: Do you believe the off-season program will make you better as a team?

GILBERRY: It has to make us better. Most of that stuff is all mental and if you think you're tired, you're going to be tired. That's one thing the Fourth Quarter taught you. You can be tired as a beaten dog but if you tell yourself you're fresh, you're going to keep moving.

Q: Describe the coaching style of the new staff during practice.

GILBERRY: It's very hands-on and those guys know what they're doing. They definitely know how to coach. Coach Davis will get down in the stance if he has to, he'll go right back to his LSU days and get down with it.
