Ohio linebacker on Spartans' list

Coach Mark Dantonio and his staff did an excellent job of addressing many of the needs to team with the 2007 class. The one position they would have liked to have added another player or two was linebacker. The Spartans evaluated and even officially received visits from multiple linebacker prospects, but decided not to offer them. The staff was not willing to extend an offer just for the sake of filling a scholarship spot.

What that means for next year is that the linebacker position will be a top priority for the class of 2008. Spartanmag.com spoke with one of the best linebacker prospect in Ohio for next year, Steve Gardiner<. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound prospect from Dublin-Coffman High School ahs already been to East Lansing this winter and gave us some details about his recruitment.

Gardiner is receiving attention from Michigan State, Cincinnati, Indiana, Miami (Ohio), Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pitt and others.
