2007 Tiny Bates Award Banquet

One of the top events to attend at the conclusion of every Cal football season is the Tiny Bates Banquet hosted by the Sacramento Grid Club. In memory of the Grid Club's founder and former Cal player, the Henry "Tiny" Bates Memorial Award is presented annually to recognize a senior player from the Greater Sacramento Valley region. Cal graduate Byron Storer became the 35th receipient of the award on Monday night, in a ceremony which included California head coach Jeff Tedford.

"Thanks for letting us borrow Byron for the past five years," Coach Tedford told the Storer family, as well as the rest of the Cal audience, during his brilliant introduction of the former Cal fullback. "He was part of our first recruiting class and he came to Cal on a leap of faith. It is in great part to players like Byron that we've had the leadership, and the subsequent success that we've had at Cal."
