Nuss will take first shot on defense
Not one college program recruited Andrew Nuss as a defensive tackle.
But after Notre Dame missed on a handful of its top prospects at the position, Charlie Weis presented Nuss with the option of starting his college career trying to sack quarterbacks rather than keep them upright. And during an in-home visit by Weis last week, Nuss jumped at the chance, at least for now.
"I know if I don't get a chance to try defense that I'll always regret it," Nuss said. "Right now I'm 55-45 defense. If it doesn't work out I'll move back to offense. I'm still open."
