Rose Bowl notebook

There wasn't as much drama in the 2007 Rose Bowl compared to the 2006 version, but Trojan fans were much happier with the more recent result.

Ryan Abraham's notebook from the game covers everything from the early run oriented play calling to Lawrence Jackson chatting respectfully with Jake Long after the game.


  • USC scored only three points in the first half, largely due to the lone turnover deep in Michigan territory.

  • The Trojans started the game off with two runs. Very interesting, getting away from their normal pass, run, pass pattern.

  • They also made some early adjustments, rolling Booty out to get him away from the pressure. Mixing things up they attempted a pass to Allen Bradford and then a screen pass to C.J. Gable, but neither of these worked. Of course this was all a precursor to the second half explosion in the passing game.
