Leggett gives pledge to Spartans

SpartanMag.com has learned from Josh Helmholdt of MichiganPreps.com that running back Ashton Leggett of Muskegon High School has committed to play football at Michigan State Unoversity.

Leggett is rated a 3-star running back recruit by Rivals.com and the #26 player in Michigan for the class of 2007.

Leggett just completed an outstanding senior year for the Muskegon Big Red. He helped lead them to a state championship by rushing for over 2000 yards and scoring 31 touchdowns.

Leggett was named 1st Team All-State running back by the Associated Press and to the Detroit News All-State Dream Team.

Leggett had seen his interest rise in recent weeks. He took official visit the past two weeks to Central Michigan and Toledo. Both schools had offered him a scholarship.

The chance to play in the Big Ten for the Spartans was apparently too good to pass up and Leggett jumped at an opportunity to play for Michigan State.

SpartanMag.com will have much more on this story as it unfolds.
