Job Search Saturday

In advance of an expected Independence Bowl bid, the Alabama Crimson Tide will return to the practice field for a Saturday morning workout. But most UA fans will be focused on the day's slate of games, which will feature no fewer than seven coaches who have been mentioned as potential candidates to replace Mike Shula as the Tide's boss.

So put on your athletic director hat and prepare to spend the day breaking down a field that includes West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez, Louisville coach Bobby Petrino, Navy coach Paul Johnson, Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe, Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey, Arkansas coach Houston Nutt and Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops.

Three of those coaches -- Rodriguez, Petrino and Johnson -- oversee offenses that rank among the very best in the nation.
