Scouting and analyzing Knight's class

Rivals.com's national basketball recruiting analyst Justin Young makes no secret about his thoughts on how well Texas Tech and Bob Knight did by landing three of the top high school prospects in the state of Texas recently. Young breaks each down individually and in some cases he's been following them and watching them play for years.

MIKE SINGLETARY

Justin Young's Analysis: Singletary is a guy that's been around for a long time in terms of in the basketball recruiting world just because his team has always played the main court, the prime time game against the best of the best with Houston Hoops. Al Pastor really wanted to showcase those kids, and Singletary has kind of been out there in the spotlight. When he was younger he had a ton of hype, that kind of tailed off and people didn't really buy into the hype. But what Singletary has done this year is I think people are starting to kind of probably come around and see the player that he always has been rather than all the hype that came around him. What he is, is just a very solid basketball player that wins basketball games. He's got a state championship and you and I both know that in Texas to win a 5A state championship is like - you can go to New Jersey and buy a Powerball ticket and probably have better odds because winning a state championship in Texas is that difficult. So I think that's what you have with a kid like him. He does everything really well, I think he defends really well on the wing - physically, mentally, emotionally - He's much more mature than a lot of guys in his class, and I think that's what you're going to get with him. He's very solid, and is very much the type of player that Bobby Knight likes to have and has had success with in the past.

Texas Hoops Analysis: MIKE is a fierce competitor that does everything well. He is a very skilled combo forward that will battle in the paint or take it to the hole and finish strong at the basket. He is tough and physical and is a match up problem on both ends of the court. He has a good mid-range jumper and can handle the ball on the perimeter and is a good passer.
