BC football notes, thoughts

The Boston College football team limped their way to a 31-24 victory over Central Michigan in their opener thanks to some questionable coaching calls by CMU head coach Brian Kelly. However, did they lose defensive tackle B.J. Raji and how is Matt Ryan's ankle?

We're hearing that Raji will be suspended for the first half of the Clemson game for his personal foul and ejection. We're not sure if this is ACC-imposed or if it's a suspension handed down by Tom O'Brien. Losing Raji for the full game would have been deadly but the Eagles can survive a half. The suspension for just a half sounds odd, so confirmation is still being sought.

Matt Ryan's ankle is not great but we hear it won't be anything to hinder his status for the Clemson game.

The BC team knows how poorly they played, especially on defense, against CMU and know they need a completely different effort on Saturday. The extra couple of days off will help, but many different areas need improving. Tom O'Brien was all over the team following the game and not happy with the effort.

Hard to tell much about Clemson from their 54-6 drubbing of Florida Atlantic because FAU stinks. Quarterback Will Proctor looked nervous though and had a few passes batted down. The Clemson running game will be tough to stop.
