Camp Review: Defense
Fall camp has concluded, and while several questions about the defense have been answered, new questions arise.
This August, the Trojans have focused their attention on the 3-4 defense. Exchanging linebacker speed for defensive line size, skeptics wonder if Pete Carroll isn't "jumping the shark" by attempting to bring an NFL tend to college football.
The implementation of the 3-4 came from an obvious overload of superior linebacker talent. With the likes of five-star rated linebacker Keith Rivers already on the roster, USC signed 17-stars worth of talent in 2005. Luthur Brown, Kaluka Maiava, Rey Maualuga and Brian Cushing gave the Trojans the best linebacker class in the history of recruiting rankings.
