Thursday Practice Report: Morning

While the defense had an interception and got to the quarterback several times, Thursday's morning practice highlighted the offense. Here are some notes on things that happened that caught our eye.

  • Terrell Turner played phenomenal today. Willie Tuitama thread the needle once across the middle for about 20 yards and Turner made the catch and held on to the ball after being hit by safety Michael Johnson.

  • Anthony Johnson is becoming one of the most durable receivers that is on Arizona's roster. He is constantly catching passes and taking the hit afterwards. He's a very physical type of guy and expect a lot of utility yards out of him this season.

  • DelaShaun Dean had two nice catches. They were both short passes intended for him to catch the ball, and use his speed to make a move and create separation from the defense.

  • Tuitama threw a great ball to Brad Wood to the left sideline for about 45 yards. Wood beat the secondary and there was nothing but open field between him and the end zone.

  • Probably the biggest surprise of the day was freshman fullback Earl Mitchell. Mitchell, who has not had the softest hands on the team, made two magnificent catches of about 40 and 35 yards.
