The top 10 Stoops defenders

In this week's edition of the top 10 we'll try to rank the illustrious group of Sooner defenders that have trotted onto Owen field in Norman during Bob Stoops successful tenure. The group includes two Thorpe award winners, two Butkus award winners, two Nagurski awards, a Lombardi award winner, a Bednarik award winner, and All-American nominations too long to list.

So where did the likes of some of the elite players to ever wear the uniform fall in amongst each other?

10. Jonathan Jackson, Defensive End - 2001-2004
Analysis: This one should really surprise some people and while there were some other worthy candidates, none put together a career of the magnitude of Jackson's. There have been perhaps no more consistent performers in the Stoops era than the Galena Park North Shore product. Jackson collected 21 sacks during his career a number that placed him behind only four other Sooners. A stat that was quietly achieved by the unassuming Jackson, who was part of another memorable Red River Shootout player when a batted pass from Dan Cody ended up in his arms and saw Jackson race to the end zone as part of the onslaught of Oklahoma's 65-13 victory in 2004.
