Ryan struggles, freshmen emerge
An otherwise drab scrimmage produced some interesting stories at Alumni Stadium Sunday night.
While Matt Ryan was just 10-for-19 (17-for-36 in two scrimmages) and no veteran running back gained more than 12 yards, the true freshmen stole the spotlight in the second of four BC fall scrimmages.
Nine of the freshmen were missing from the first game situation last Thursday night. Most of them were back Sunday (most were missing because of classwork) - and many made real impressions.

Both caught two passes on this night - Wilson long ones of 43 an 41 yards and Jarvis grabs of 22 and 4, the latter a touchdown strike from Bill Flutie (4-for-6, 73 yards, one TD).
With the loss of Will Blackmon and Larry Lester, the Eagles have time available at the wide receiver spot. Now, one scrimmage does not a true freshman getting real time make, but these kids stood out Sunday.
