Practice Report: Two-a-days rough on Tide

The Tide's first two-a-day practice session showed that while Mike Shula and his coaching staff have been happy with what they've seen so far, there's still a long way to go before the Crimson Tide is ready for game day.

"I thought both practice were okay, they weren't great," said Shula. "Overall our efficiency isn't great but we ended with a two-minute drill where we did a lot of good things offensively. We went from a move the ball drill where we didn't execute as good as we should and in the two minute drill we ended up scoring."

That drill included several sharp passes from John Parker Wilson who went four of five hitting Nikita Stover on a fade route in the end zone as time expired.

"We've got the scrimmage tomorrow and we're going to try to get everybody reps to play and I think we've got more depth to do that," Shula said. "Our format will be about like it's been the last few years."

The two-minute drill also saw the return of Marlon Davis to the first team right guard spot as BJ Stabler and Mike Johnson were held out of contact with minor injuries.

"Marlon was excused the past few days for personal reasons and now he's back with us," said Shula.
