Coach Rod: White nicked, should return soon
MORGANTOWN -- West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez caught the media's attention Tuesday with the news that quarterback Pat White slightly pulled a muscle under his left (throwing) armpit, but not to worry.
Day 4 comments following a two-hour workout on Mountaineer Field in low 80-degree temperatures and light humidity. The team continues in shells for the second time on Wednesday, then takes in a rare two-a-day practice on Thursday when Rod said he would have a better idea of depth, particularly at corner.
"Things went a little better today than yesterday. We had more guys who finished practice (without cramping). We were slower it seemed. At times our tempo wasn't as good. Of course the weather was a lot cooler today.
"It was OK. The freshman quarterbacks got a lot of reps because Pat White, uh, strained a little muscle in his side (Rod pointed to his left side here). He did a little in practice, but there were a lot of things he couldn't do. That gave Nate Sowers and Jarrett Brown a lot of reps and they need 'em.
"I'm hoping Pat will practice (Thursday), but we'll see how that goes.
