Summer Q&A: DE Alex Boston

After the injury to Kamerion Wimbley last season, Alex Boston filled in and finished his sophomore season on a high note. The junior from Bartow started seven games last season, but will have an even bigger role as a full-time starter in 2006. caught up with Boston to discuss the difficult task of replacing Wimbley, his goals for this season and why a coach had to cuss him out last season.

How does it feel to finally have the summer workout program behind you?

Overall, I feel as the defensive line and the defense as a whole that we did a pretty good job, and the offense too. We worked really hard and for the most part you can tell with the top lifts (strength testing) that the defense did a very good job overall, and some of the offensive guys did well too. Hopefully, we'll just keep it going this season.

How did you do in the strength testing?

I was in the top 10, I got sixth in everything. I wanted to be in the top five but that's okay in the pound-for-pound. It's interesting how it worked out. Hopefully, I'll stay healthy and have a good season.
