Four-star DE enjoys Tech visit

Georgia Tech went to Louisiana a couple years ago to sign Darryl Richard, one of the top defensive linemen in the nation, and it appears the Yellow Jackets are right in the mix again for another Bayou State star. Jason Peters, a defensive end from Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, recently made a visit to Atlanta to take a closer look at Tech.

"I met the d-line coach, Coach (Giff) Smith and I met Coach (Curtis) Modkins," Peters said. "They showed me around the campus. I was really impressed with the school and I learned a lot about it that I didn't know. I had a great time. I went with my dad and my sister and everything went really well. We got a good feel for the place and what it's about. I saw their weight room and how they work out, what their schedule is like and how they prepare their athletes for on and off the field. All in all it went really well."

Peters said he was able to have a good discussion with both Coach Smith and even head coach Chan Gailey.

"I got a chance to talk with Coach Smith and he said they're looking for a defensive end," Peters said. "He was telling me I fit the job and what they're looking for. I talked to their head coach, Coach Gailey, and he said I'm the kind of guy they're looking for to recruit and have at their school. He explained their philosophies about how they want to get better, but how they want to get better with guys who will do well on the football field and also in school."
