Plenty of depth on the defensive line

The Bulldogs might have lost both starters and one defense end off of last year's SEC Championship squad, but there is plenty of talent, both proven and fresh, that are waiting in the wings to take over at both end and defensive tackle.


The Dawgs return eight players on the defensive line with experience led by defensive end
Quentin Moses, an All American selection by Rivals.com. Tackle Ray Gant and end Charles Johnson also have a lot of experience, with the rest of the depth chart populated with seasoned players with not a lot of game time under their belt or newcomers.


In all, 10 of the 16 defensive linemen are underclassmen. Tops among them is sophomore Jeff Owens, who played last year as a true freshman and has earned himself a first team spot next to Gant. Seniors Dale Dixson and Marquis Elmore have combined for 12 tackles over the course of their careers, and are feeling the pressure from the talented youngsters behind.


"Jeff Owens, Kade Weston, and Ricardo Crawford, those guys are going to be good and they are pushing us right now," said Elmore.
