Working toward a common goal--secondary part 2

Yesterday BeaverBlitz featured a look back at last seasons young secondary. Today we feature a look ahead to the 2006 season and the mentality of the coaches and players who are working toward a vast improvement in 2006.

"We just need to come out and make more plays," Keenan Lewis said. "Last year, we made a lot of mistakes. So we want to show people what we can do."

And secondary coach Nigel Burton is doing his best to make sure his players head into fall camp with a vengeance. He was extremely vocal during spring practice and pushed his unit hard. Members of the secondary were usually the last players to exit the practice field. But they didn't seem to mind.

"I was ready to step my game up. Lewis explained. "I have been watching more film and breaking down plays. Been learning a lot and getting the defensive schemes down. So I think this year, I'll be pretty good."
