Tide in top group for Sheard
The picture is starting to become a bit clearer for Hollywood Hills, Fla., High School defensive lineman Jabaal Sheard and Alabama appears to be among the top candidates for the three-star prospect.
Sheard was one of the top defensive performers at the Miami Nike camp this year where he ran a 4.6-40 and 4.25 shuttle, bench pressed 185-pounds 19 times and had a vertical jump of 28-inches. But Sheard's performance apparently didn't impress the host Hurricanes enough to extend an offer.
"Miami's taking too long, so I might not be too interested in them anymore," Sheard said.
The Crimson Tide, on the other hand, has expressed plenty of interest and will likely receive an official visit this fall from Sheard.
"I feel like they're interested in me and they really want me to come out there. Coach (David) Turner texts me all the time, even over the holidays. They got a good program out there and I like what I've heard so far."
