Countdown to Camp: WRs a strength for UVa
For the last few years, the wide receiver position was always considered a question mark for the Virginia football program heading into the season. However, that's not the case with the 2006 campaign right around the corner. Led by senior Deyon Williams, UVa appears to have its deepest and most talented receiving corps of the Al Groh era. In this edition of Countdown to Camp, we take a close look at the Cavaliers wideouts.
ON THE ROSTER: Deyon Williams (6-foot-3, 185 pounds, senior), Fontel Mines (6-4, 217 pounds, senior), Kevin Ogletree (6-2, 184 pounds, sophomore), Maurice Covington (6-4, 212 pounds, sophomore), Emmanuel Byers (5-9, 186 pounds, junior), Theirrien Davis (5-11, 187 pounds, junior), Andrew Pearman (5-10, 166 pounds, sophomore), Chris Dalton (6-2, 170 pounds, true freshman), Staton Jobe (5-11, 180 pounds, true freshman).
WHO'S GONE: Ottowa Anderson, a special teams standout who also played as a reserve wide receiver. Anderson caught 10 passes for 210 yards last season.
