Helu garnering Pac-10 interest
San Ramon, Calif., Valley tailback Roy Helu has secured another offer.
The rock solid 5-foot-11, 207-pound budding Northern California star has soared to the top of the board on some college's wish list.
And for good reason. The all East Bay (EBAL) league performer amassed over 2,000 yards total yards from scrimmage during a brilliant junior season.
Blessed with 4.4 40 speed and a 35-inch vertical, Helu, who is of Tongan descent, has all the attributes you want in a recruit. Along with a quiet confidence on the field and in the classroom, the Wolves top RB possesses a maturity that is unmistakable. His statistics back up his game. Helu rushed for 1,526 yards and 19 scores on a 186 carries during the 2005 season - an impressive 8.2 yards per carry average - and added 30 receptions for 500 yards and 4 more TD's. Considering Helu's numbers came in one of the best prep leagues in Northern California, and that he was second overall in rushing, Helu has certainly distanced himself from a number of fellow RB prospects in the 2007 class.
