Virginia's Fleming checking out the Vols

Tennessee assistant coach Larry Slade has worked the state of Virginia in earnest during his tenure on the Vol staff. Slade has found some success with guys like Marvin Mitchell, Jarod Mayo, and Antwan Stewart and Slade has found struggles with names like Ahmad Brooks.

But if you are looking for Slade on the recruiting trail then the first place to start is Virginia which is where he was for a good bit of spring evaluation period. One of the names that Slade is after is Highlands Springs, Virginia cornerback C.J. Fleming.

However, Slade is not the only college coach seeking Fleming's services as schools like Georgia, NC State, North Carolina, and West Virginia have all already offered.

"I am getting a lot of mail and there has been a bunch of coaches by the school in the last month to see me," Fleming said. "It is real exciting and everything is going good right now. I keep getting more and more offers."

In growing offer list and growing interest is making for a challenging summer for Fleming as some are encouraging him to make an early college choice.

"My coach has been talking to me about making an early commitment," Fleming said. "He would like for me to do that so I can concentrate on my academics and my senior year. But I don't know that I will be able to do that. First I have to narrow my list which is what I am going to try to do early this summer."
