Troy Johnson motivated to succeed

One of the biggest sleepers in Iowa's 2006 recruiting class was Florida linebacker Troy Johnson.

Despite racking up 180 tackles on an undefeated and nationally ranked Lakeland team, the Hawkeyes were the only team to offer the 6-foot-2, 198-pound linebacker.

Now, Johnson plans to use that for motivation as he begins his college career at the University of Iowa with a little bit of a chip on his shoulder this year.

Q: How's the last semester of high school going?

JOHNSON: Everything's going really well. We graduate May 21st.

Q: What have you been up to since we last talked around signing day?

JOHNSON: Well, I played basketball. Then basically since they sent me the workout program after signing day, I've been doing that and the diet and everything.
