Elite safety gets the message

Notre Dame defensive backs coach Bill Lewis told Major Wright to just watch.

The veteran assistant wanted the 6-foot-1, 210-pound defensive back from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to keep his eyes on Notre Dame's safeties during last weekend's Blue-Gold Game then draw his own conclusions about whether or not Wright could fit into the Irish secondary. Both Wright and Lewis got the answers they wanted.

"I was like, 'Yes I could' after the game," Wright said. "I watched them keeping their depth, not always coming up for the run but playing their spot."
