Don't be surprised if Blake Lawrence ultimately decides to follow in the footsteps of his brother and attend the University of Kansas. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound inside linebacker/dual-threat quarterback from Shawnee Mission West High School told Jayhawk Slant that the opportunity to play with his older brother, Tyler Lawrence, will play a major role in his decision.
"Yes, I do have a scholarship offer on the table from the Kansas Jayhawks," said Lawrence. "KU was actually hoping to be the first school to offer me a scholarship, but Missouri jumped the gun. I picked up my scholarship offer from Kansas at junior day.
"It was very similar to how they offered my brother Tyler a scholarship," he added. "I went into Coach Mark Mangino's office, which really made an impression on me, and they offered me right there. I will say that Kansas is sitting pretty high on my list."
When it comes time to make a decision about his future, Lawrence is definitely going to have a difficult decision to make. As it stands right now, he has scholarship offers from Colorado State, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, Missouri, Texas Tech and Ball State.
Lawrence is also receiving a heavy amount of interest from Nebraska and Wisconsin. However, when he is ready to make that final decision about his future, the opportunity to play with his brother at KU will greatly factor into his decision.
"Absolutely, I would love to play with my brother for three or four more years," said Lawrence.
