When you scrimmage for a 110 plays with full contact, naturally you are going to suffer a few bumps and bruises.
On Monday, a handful of players were held of Nebraska's eighth official practice this spring for minor injuries.
Sophomore quarterback Beau Davis is currently out with a high ankle sprain and sophomore QB Harrison Beck left practice at the midway point due to the hamstring injury he's nursing from Saturday's scrimmage.
Besides Beck and Davis, sophomore wide receiver Chris Brooks sat out on Monday with a minor injury he suffered from the scrimmage.
"We banged them pretty good on Saturday," Norvell said. "So you expect to get some bumps and bruises from guys being sore, but we've been fortunate we haven't had anything major. We just want to be able to continue to scrimmage, because that's when you really find out about players."
Because of the injuries to Beck and Davis, NU only had two quarterbacks working in practice on Monday.
Novell expects Beck to be back out this week and Davis is also listed as day-to-day. As for sizing up Beck's performance on Saturday, Norvell wouldn't go into specifics other than saying everybody still has things they need to work on.
"We all did some good and did some bad," Norvell said. "So we try to use it as a teaching experience, so we'll use it as a teaching experience for all of our players.
"We've got to clean up some other areas of our game, but overall there was a lot of good and a lot of bad, just like every practice out here. We don't get overly excited about the negative or the positive this time of year. We just have to continue to improve on the areas we set out for the spring."
