Pokes receive a 5-seed in the Tourney, will play Pac-12 Champ Oregon in first round

After a quiet March in Stillwater the last two years, the Cowboys have finally been asked to the Big Dance.

It was announced that the Big 12 Player of the Year Marcus Smart and his Cowboys received a No. 5 seed in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament bracket, and will travel to San Jose, California for their first two games.

OSU's hot date at the season-ending dance? The Pac 12 Tournament Champion Oregon Ducks (26-8), who beat the UCLA Bruins by 9 to win the conference's championship this past weekend.

The Ducks, who are a No. 12 seed, pose a solid threat, as six of their players are averaging over eight points per game this season, with three of them averaging double-digits.

If Oklahoma State beats the Ducks, they will play either No. 4 St. Louis or No. 13 New Mexico State. They are also in the same region as the Louisville Cardinals (the overall top seed in the tournament), the Duke Blue Devils, and the Michigan State Spartans.

Oklahoma State and the Oregon Ducks will play on Thursday evening, with the tip off time still yet to be announced. If the Cowboys advance, they will likely play again on Saturday evening.
