Missouri will eventually face a team which forces it to play well before the game is 20 minutes old. It didn't happen Tuesday night in a 91-54 win over Alcorn State.
The Tigers missed their first nine shots and were shooting just 23.1% at halftime, but still held a 30-23 lead, thanks in large part to 12 points from Phil Pressey and a nearly as dreadful 9-for-31 shooting half from the Braves.
Mizzou took just more than four minutes after the break to complete a 21-5 run that started with Pressey's three on the final possession of the first half. From there, the Tigers rolled to a 37-point win.
The major offensive push came from an expected source in an unexpected way. Bowers made three three-pointers in the opening six minutes of the second half on his way to 14 points, all after the break.
