Catching up with RB Lynch

Boston College running back commitment Akeel Lynch is one of the Eagles' most highly rated prospects so you can bet the coaching staff is doing everything they can to ensure he signs with them in February.

It won't be easy and the Eagles know they're in for a fight.

Lynch, a 6-foot, 205-pound back from Athol Springs (N.Y.) St. Francis, is still keeping an open mind and that means the Eagles can't rest easy.

Lately there has been a lot of buzz concerning Lynch and Oklahoma, a school that just got involved recently.

"Right now I'm going to talk to Coach Gundy soon," Lynch said. "After I talk to him I'll have more information. I'm probably going to talk to them soon. Right now it's in the works. We're setting it all up.

"They're setting up an official visit for me for January 13."

If the Sooners offer they would carry a lot of weight with Lynch.

"Oklahoma is Oklahoma so that's definitely exciting," he admitted. "It's one of the top programs so for their school to contact me, I'm real excited."

Would the Sooners jump to the top of his list if they offer?

"Right now it's really BC, Iowa and Oklahoma. Right now I'm just waiting to see what Oklahoma is going to do. If they do offer it will be between those three."

Iowa, a school Lynch has visited and a school that also poses a threat to BC in the battle for Lynch, recently picked up a verbal commitment from four-star running back Greg Garmon. Will that have an affect on his decision?

"I knew about that," he said. "They've told me they're bringing in two (running backs) so I have no problem with another coming in. I already knew about it."

Lynch told EagleAction.com that BC assistant coach Jeff Commissiong would be making a trip to visit him on Friday.
