Boyd ready for another bowl

Fletcher Cox has received several postseason awards including being named All-SEC and an All-American.

But for Mississippi State's defensive line Cox's sidekick has been equally important. Oftentimes it is Josh Boyd who gets to take advantage of double teams on Cox to free him up to make tackles.

"Some games they key on him more and that leaves me with a lot of one-on-ones," Boyd said. "I've just got to capitalize and do my job to the best of my ability."

Both Cox and Boyd were brought in as four-star defensive linemen in the 2009 class and have played a pivotal role for the Bulldogs the past three seasons. Boyd has played in every game since his arrival in Starkville drawing 33 starts at defensive tackle.

Boyd had recorded 91 career stops, 14.5 tackles for loss and six sacks. This year has been his best season making 50 stops, seven for loss and 3.5 sacks.

Also something the Philadelphia, Miss., native is proud of is his 3-0 record against instate rival Ole Miss during his time at MSU.
