Walsh ready for next step

Offensive lineman Jordan Walsh says it will be a little sad to leave all of his friends this summer, but at the same time he is excited for the next step, which will take him to Iowa City to get ready to play for the Hawkeyes. Walsh talks about when he is making the move, preparing for his freshman year, and much more.

Q: How much high school do you have left?

WALSH: We graduate June 3rd.

Q: It sounds like you are headed out to Iowa right away after that?

WALSH: Yeah, I'll be there June 6th.

Q: What went into that decision to get there as soon as possible?

WALSH: I just want to get a feel for the college, get to know the players and the playbook, and everything.

Q: What has it been like for you this month as you wrap up high school and get ready to leave for college?

WALSH: It's kind of sad leaving your friends that you might not see for a while, but it's also exciting because you're getting ready to play at a big school on the big stage with awesome coaches.

As a senior, Walsh led his Glenbard West team to a 10-2 record. In August 2010, the four-star prospect committed to Iowa over scholarship offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, USC, UCLA, Illinois, Northwestern, Arizona, Tennessee, Nebraska, Colorado, and Boston College, among others.
