Introducing 2012 DT Jaleel Johnson
National Signing Day has arrived, and while much of today's focus will be on the Class of 2011, junior recruiting is just beginning to heat up.
On Sunday, Michigan State played host to several Class of 2012 prospects during its junior day event on campus, one of whom is Westchester (Ill.) St. Joseph's defensive tackle prospect Jaleel Johnson.
While on campus, Johnson received his first offer of the recruiting process. SpartanMag.com caught up with Johnson on Tuesday night and he talked about his offer and his impressions of the MSU program.
"It meant a lot," the 6-2, 277-pound Johnson said of his offer. "It was an honor to receive and offer from Michigan State because they have a very high tradition of football wins and they're so good."
The junior day marked the first time Johnson has been to East Lansing and left with positive impressions of the facilities and the coaching staff.
"One, the campus. Everything was connected and very convenient, because the freshmen football players, they're dorms are across the street from the (Duffy Daugherty Building/Skandalaris Football Center) complex. So that was very convenient, plus the weight room is there, so it's a nice facility," Johnson shared.
