Bulldogs win again in Oxford

OXFORD, Miss., - For the third year in a row Mississippi State walked into Tad Smith Coliseum and walked away victorious.

The Bulldogs trailed for most of the contest against rival Ole Miss but rallied back late with a 69-64 victory to claim their first conference win on the road.

“(The win) is important to me because I know it’s important to our players, our team, where we’re at and what we’ve been through,” Rick Stansbury said. “That’s the most important thing. It’s documented what we’ve done here (in Oxford). If it was something we’ve never done then it would be different. But in this situation and what our team has been through and what we’ve fighting against and coming off a home loss going against a very good Ole Miss basketball team and to come in here and win is what is special to me.”

MSU (9-7, 1-1) took their largest lead of the game with nine seconds remaining with four straight free throws by Kodi Augustus to seal things up for the Bulldogs.

State shot 49-percent for the game and outrebounded the Rebels by five. They also limited Ole Miss to only five free throw attempts on the night.

Dee Bost once again had a big game against the Rebels with 25 points. Bost made 9-of-16 shooting including three treys and eight assists.
