Washington thinks CSU or New Mexico
Arlington (Tex.) running back Lewis Washington has seen his recruitment come right down to the end of the recruiting season. The 5-foot-11, 203-pounder holds five scholarship offers and said two late visits will likely decide his destination.
Washington said he plans to visit Colorado State on Jan. 14 and New Mexico on Jan. 21 before making up his mind.
"I plan on a visit Jan. 14," Washington said of his Fort Collins plans. "I am waiting on a visit to come up in two and a half weeks to make my decision. I just want to see the campus. I want to see what it is going to be like out there for the next four years of your life.
"I'll go to New Mexico the next week," he continued. "I am going to compare them and see how the people are. I'll be able to tell by the time I get done with the visit to New Mexico where I want to go."
At 5-foot-11 and 203 pounds, Lewis Washington offers 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash and the versatility to play a pair of positions. Washington has bounced between running back and wide receiver over the last two seasons.
At last check this year Washington, the running back, had run for 959 yards and 15 touchdowns, while catching 22 passes for another 154 yards.
Washington said he also holds offers from Rice, North Texas and Minnesota. He said coaching changes at both North Texas and MInnesota have made it unclear whether he held scholarship offers from each.
"UNT is just getting back in the picture," Washington said. "Minnesota and UNT had coaches that were fired and I didn't know where I stood with them. UNT is just now getting back into the picture. I am just trying to see what happens when I get up to see the coaches and meet the players."
