Spirited Saturday practice
Mississippi State began its second day of bowl practice Saturday afternoon but not as it planned.
The looming inclimate weather was late arriving allowing the Bulldogs to practice outdoors and turned out to be one of the more upbeat sessions of the season.
"We've got to keep it fun," said head coach Dan Mullen. "Going to a bowl game is a celebration of the season and a reward for having a great year. For our guys they get to come out and play football for a couple more weeks. That's a lot of fun and what these guys love to do. There is no school and they just get to play football. This is really Christmas for them."
This first week of practice leading up to the bowl game allows more of a chance for Mullen and his staff to evaluate some of the younger players on the roster. MSU redshirted 18 players in its 2010 signing class and many of those players are getting their chances to run with the first two units during scrimmages.
