TU Basketball Notebook

After his team's Hoopfest season kickoff, Tulsa head coach Doug Wojcik said two things were very apparent: the team has talent, and a long road ahead before being ready to compete for a C-USA title.

"What you saw … is that we have a lot of depth," Wojcik told the Tulsa World. "(But) we have to put a lot of stuff in, in a quick amount of time."

The talent part of the equation was a welcome relief to many fans of the program after seeing Jerome Jordan and Ben Uzoh leave the program after being the faces of the Golden Hurricane team last year.

In steps talented senior guard Justin Hurtt, who is a preseason first-team selection at his position. Many of the league's coaches saw a year ago what Tulsa fans may come to appreciate this winter: Hurtt might just be more productive as a senior than either of last year's two stars when given the responsibility of being the team's leader.
