MSU run game chews up Cougars

HOUSTON, Texas - Last season Mississippi State's offense played well against Houston but four turnovers eventually cost them in a 31-24 decision in Starkville.

But Saturday night the Bulldogs were able to eliminate their turnovers entirely and left Robertson Stadium with 538 yards of offense and a 47-24 victory and ended an 18-game home winning streak by the Cougars

MSU (4-2) was able to get most of their yardage through the ground game. The Bulldogs rushed 57 times for 409 yards including a 134 yard, three touchdown performance from Vick Ballard.

Quarterback Chris Relf also had a strong night finishing with 153 yards of offense and a touchdown. Relf rushed 14 times for 96 yards and a score while completing 7-of-14 passing for 57 yards.
