A dream come true for Krieger-Coble

Growing up a Hawkeye fan with several relatives that played sports at the University of Iowa, joining their legacy in Iowa City is in many ways a dream come true for Henry Krieger-Coble. Today, the 6-foot-4, 218-pound Mount Pleasant native took the next step towards living that dream as he verbally committed to play football for head coach Kirk Ferentz. Krieger-Coble talks about his decision and much more.

Q: Did you go up to Iowa City today?

KRIEGER-COBLE: Yeah, I went on an unofficial visit. We just toured around the campus and saw all the football facilities, which I've seen before, and the academic center. Then we talked with all of the coaches and all that good stuff.

Q: Then at the end, you committed?

KRIEGER-COBLE: Yeah. At the end, we talked to Coach Ferentz. First, my mom and I asked them to give us a minute so we could talk and we were pretty much sold on it. We knew going in that we were feeling really good about things, so we agreed that it was time to tell them I wanted to commit.

Q: Then you told Coach Ferentz?

KRIEGER-COBLE: Yeah, I told him that I'm ready and I really want to come to Iowa.

Q: What did he say?

KRIEGER-COBLE: He just said it was great and he was really excited for me to come there.

Q: What is the feeling for you like now that you've had a couple hours to let it sink in?

KRIEGER-COBLE: Oh, it's great. Iowa has always seemed awesome to me and just getting a chance to get a full ride and go there is great. I'm really excited. I can't wait to go there.
