UA offers Florida TE
With nearly 20 scholarship offers to date, Brandon Fulse has earned his place as one of the elite tight end prospects in the nation for the Class of 2011. The Fort Meade (FL) native has offers from nearly every top program in the SEC and ACC and recently added the reigning national champions to that list.
"Last week I got an offer from Alabama," said Fulse. "That was a pretty big deal for me just because they are coming off a national championship and they're maybe the best team in the best conference in the country. I think they are going to have another great season this year too."
Fulse said the Tide coaching staff has given him plenty to think about by emphasizing the importance of the tight end position in their offense.
"Coach (Jim) McElwain has talked to me a lot about their offense and the way they like to use their tight ends. Alabama is a place that really features tight ends and when you play that position there, you are really a big part of what they do."
"I like Alabama's coaching staff a lot. They are some of the smartest guys in the game and they all have great reputations for coaching guys up and helping make them better. They also have a really strong graduation rate for their players, which is important to me."
Fulse, who currently stands at 6-foot-4 and 247 pounds, has impressed college coaches so far with his balance at the tight end position, excelling as both a receiving option and as a hard-nosed run blocker.
"I would say I'm a pretty well-rounded player as far both receiving and blocking. I get to do a lot of both on my high school team and that has helped me stay balanced. I am trying to increase my speed this offseason and just basically tone up and get in better shape overall. Hopefully that will give me a little more burst for next season."
As for recruiting, Fulse said he hasn't yet narrowed down his list and will decide later this summer which five schools will receive official visits from him.
"Right now, everybody's even in my eyes. I'm going to Florida State this weekend for their spring game and then probably somewhere else on the 17th, although I haven't decided where yet. My plan right now is to take all my official visits before I decide so I probably won't be making a decision until the season is over."
