Rowell back from Penn State, to visit Pitt
Pennsylvania offensive lineman Artie Rowell grew up familiar with Pitt and Penn State as you might expect.
The 6-foot-2, 296-pound lineman from Harrisburg (Pa.) Central Dauphin admits that he has a high level of interest in both schools, and his calendar would seem to confirm that.
"I'm going out to Pittsburgh this upcoming weekend for a spring practice," Rowell said. "Hopefully I'll get to go to Rutgers sometime soon, too. We're on spring break this week so I'll probably go to Rutgers. I know I'll be at the Penn State Blue-White game for sure on April 24.
"I just visited up there (to Penn State), actually. It was a one-day visit with the coaching staff and the academic support people.
"It was great. It's just about an hour and a half from the house and I always grew up rooting for Penn State just like my family has. It was an awesome opportunity to get up there and see some of the players that played in my league when I was a freshman."
Rowell said he has no definitive favorites at this point. That's due largely to his desire to give everyone a shot that might be getting involved down the road.
"I've been receiving a lot of mail from schools saying that they'll come here in April. I don't think it's fair to say I have any favorites. I'll wait until after this evaluation process which starts on April 15. Then I"ll definitely have favorites depending on what offers come in.
"I do like Pitt and Penn State a lot -- the Pennsylvania teams. I like Rutgers a lot, too. They're only about two hours from my house. I don't have any definite favorites, though."
