Hayes set to trim his list
With an offer list that has been steadily expanding this spring, running back Justice Hayes of Grand Blanc High School informed Spartsnmag.com that he will be trimming his list down to a manageable 8 teams in the very near future. SpartanMag.com caught up with the 5-foot-11, 185-pound Hayes and got the latest on his recruitment.
"I will be cutting my list to 8 teams on Sunday night," Hayes said.
Hayes' offer list is impressive with scholarships from the likes of Michigan State, Michigan, Iowa, Notre Dame and Wisconsin. In all he now has close to 15 scholarship offers. Without giving away if the Spartans are on his final eight, Hayes did indicate what he likes about Mark Dantonio's program.
"The thing I like about Michigan State is the potential they hold. I believe they will be a top ten team in a year or two. They already have two of the best running back in the Big ten in Larry Caper and Edwin Baker and they are definitely heading in the right direction."
One of the ways the Spartans are heading in the right direction is on the recruiting trail. Landing top in-state prospect like William Gholston, Max Bullough, Chris Norman, Andrew Maxwell, Dion Sims and now 2011 stud Lawrence Thomas is something that Hayes is well aware of.
"Well Lawrence Thomas just set the tone for Michigan State recruiting without a doubt, Hayes said. His commitment will definitely help them bring in some other big time recruits."
As SpartanMag.com, indicated earlier on the week, Hayes was easily one of the top performers at the Michigan Showcase Combine held last weekend. He showed tremendous ability in all facets of the game. Spartanmag.com asked him about the combine.
"It was nice to jump in the pool of competition. I definitely feel that I showed why I am one of the best running backs in the country and I look forward to improving myself as a player and a person. I also got to see my good friend DeAnthony Arnett and Lawrence Thomas."
SpartanMag.com will be sure to continue to follow Hayes' recruitment closely. We will be sure to report the 8 teams Hayes is seriously considering. Michigan State is already off to a great start to the class of 2011 and staying in the Hayes sweepstake would be another strong statement that the Spartans are a force to be reckoned with.
