Stanford strikes again in Georgia
The state of Georgia has been very good for the Cardinal football program and it looks like the connection will continue. Stanford picked up a 2011 commitment tonight from athlete Justin Scott from Mitchell County (Camilla, Ga). Scott called coach Harbaugh with the early Christmas present.
"I am very excited," Scott said. "I talked with my coach and my parents and we all thought this was a good time to commit."
The 5'11, 195 athlete was the state 200m champ and 100m runner-up in his class. Scott played wide receiver and cornerback for his high school team and Stanford recruited him as a receiver.
"I think I surprised my coach and coach Harbaugh when I told them I wanted to commit. But I have done my research, I followed Stanford, watched all their games. I loved watching Toby Gerhart win the Doak Walker award.
"It is one of the finest schools there is and an education from Stanford is something I want."
Scott had offers from Georgia and East Carolina. Alabama and Georgia Tech both made visits to his school to talk to the speedster.
Scott reports a 3.5 GPA and is taking the ACT in mid-January.
We will have more from our interview with Scott later.
