Williams a Man Amongst Boys
With the likes of John Cullen, Eric Humphrey, and even jumbo-sized quarterback Cameron Newton on campus this weekend there was plenty of beef in Norman but few of the Sooner prospects can match defensive tackle Damon Williams for pure size. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound mountainous run-stuffer was only offered a week or so ago by the Sooners but made the trip up with his mother and brother this weekend for his official visit.
Williams was hosted by Adrian Taylor during is time but said that when Taylor is host Gerald McCoy might as well be listed as such and that the two had plenty to offer Williams about what it was like to be a Sooner.
"My host was Adrian Taylor, I liked him. I hung out with him and Gerald," Williams said. "(Taylor) just kind of told me how everything was. He answered all of my questions.
"He said being there was good, it was fun, everyone around there has fun, no one there is going to try and keep things from you. They are going to try and help you, they want to see you prosper and they work you hard to make sure you do.
"They both said (defensive tackles coach Jackie Shipp) is going to give you the tools to get you where you want to go. He can give you the teaching that you need to go there."
